BOCA BETH: One Song at a Time

It’s so cool when you have groupies who are ages 2-6 and they think you are a rock star!  I never, ever, never envisioned being able to do what I do and love it sooooooooooooooo much.

Today I had to drive more than 45 minutes to get to a library event way across town.  After two days of having Megan (our first grade drama queen!) home from school I was in no mood to miss a full morning of catch-up-office-fun  . . .   but I had no choice.  I had graciously accepted the ‘gig’ and had to show up and be BOCA BETH!!!

When I arrived (with only 14 minutes to spare!) I was met with a room full of anticipating children - many of whom had care givers that had planned this since my e-mail went out a couple of weeks ago announcing my Summer line up of Spanish and English fun for little ones!  Tina (one of the family child care providers who came today with 6 amazing children) told me, “Oh, she’s been sooooo excited since we told her you were going to be here this morning.  She could not wait to meet you in person!”

Man……..I mean I know…….it’s not like I am Carrie Underwood or Laurie Berkner yet, but it feels so good to have those little eyes (all 90 of them!!!!) just staring up at me with love and trust and yearning for more, más, more!  So I did it!  I gave them my all.  I totally blanked out the newsletter that needed to be written, the press release about our latest CD that needed to get out and the many statements that needed to be sent as gentle reminders of “Pay up please - this girl is not one of the big ones yet!”

My Spanish songs mixed with English lyrics captured the hearts and minds of the new moms and children there while I left a warm and fuzzy feeling with those children who had - until today - only listened to my voice and never seen me! 

What a RUSH for us all!

Thank you Lord for this gift of being able to teach and touch children with a second language journey full of music and movement and creativity!
