This is How We Teach the Children Their ABCs in Spanish

It is all about the basics!

It is all about providing a strong foundation in the Spanish language!

It is all about making it fun & easy for any parent - a bilingual one or a monolingual one!

It is all about taking a little upbeat, catchy music adding in some rhythm and sprinkling in Spanish as the new language!

When it came time to produce our second CD preschool teachers, homeschooling moms, family child care providers, stay-at-home-moms, grandmas and more had asked that we introduce the Spanish alphabet (which can tend to get a bit confusing to our adult brains that have been singing the ABCs in English to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star for many years!!!).

More Boca Beth/Mas Boca Beth

So amigas/amigos/friends….here it is. Our Boca Beth version of Rappin’ the Spanish Alphabet / Rappin’ el alfabeto Español from our CD titled “More Boca Beth / Más Boca Beth” which was released in October 2003 and revised in 2006! We listen to you, so speak up and tell us what you think of this cool way to introduce the Spanish ABCs…….

Suggested circle time activity to do hand-in-hand with this fun Boca Beth song:

A fun and easy to understand song that brings the ABCs in Spanish to life. The reason this song is not bilingual is because the alphabets in English and Spanish differ quite a bit on certain letters so that there is no direct point of reference that would be easy for a preschool age child nor an elementary school age child to understand.

We free form dance our way through it or if you are feeling “creative” and “brave” you create the dance steps and it becomes a “you do what I do” lesson with lots of smiles and laughs (not to mention the early literacy skills involved as the children recognize sounds of letters in another language – allowing the child to better comprehend his own native language sounds).

There are visual aids to assist with this introduction of ABCs in Spanish that are sold at local learning stores or on web sites like www.lakeshorelearning.com - based on the age of children you are introducing the Spanish ABCs to will determine what you should get.
