It was never my intention to become a keynote speaker in the field of early childhood education when I first started my company Boca Beth LLC in late 2002! (Click here for my titles and training topics!)
But now, look at me and BOCA our mascot character below in action, and I can’t imagine having missed this part of the journey!
Yet - it’s time to wean away from that part of the business plan (as it so sneakily snuck into the plan in the first place!) - and say adiós to my keynote engagements at the end of 2011!
I will be working on our TV show part of Boca Beth, our lines of distribution and new product development … all of which need 250% of my time which I am unable to give when I am on the road as a keynote. Here’s my calendar for 2010 as it is shaping up as a musical keynote and inspirational keynote on the topic of bridging together Spanish and English during the early years (birth - five).
Just as they are doing at the NAEYC Conferencethis week where Arne Duncanwas the keynote yesterday, we are all trying to make this world a better place one child at a time.
Our last Boca Bethand BOCA the mascot, language amigo keynote of 2009!
We will be singing songs in Spanish and English with early childhood professionals and family child care providers of Virginia. These bilingual songs come from my Boca Beth Program and product lineup that have won numerous awards and been listed on the US Department of Education’s linked site OELA (Office of English Language Acquisition).
See us in action on this fun YouTube clip - then call us toll free to book us for your next conference, community concert need or PTA event for families.
I Know the Days of the Week / Yo sé los días de la semana Download this FREE MP3 (link to the left) of our award-winning Boca Beth song that has even enjoyed the honor of being listed on the US Deparment of Education’s linked web site OELA (Office of English Language Acqusition). Want to see our listing? I keep hoping and praying that Arne Duncan will call me to discuss how to implement this fun and easy bilingual program of mine nation wide to meet President Obama’s request to ‘make certain your children know how to speak Spanish.’
YES! That’s right! Latino children learn English with our Boca Beth music & movement fun while Anglo children learn Spanish. This bilingual methodology WORKS better than immersion millions report because it allows the young child the ability to hear and read his native language while also hearing and reading their new language.
In fact The Boston Globe reported last fall that immersion classes were causing anxiety in young children along with sleeplessness and nausea. Read the article from The Boston Globe by clicking here that really supports this bilingual (or addition learning method, parallel learning method) that we use at The Boca Beth Program.
This morning I am off to Iowa to train for a Child Care Resource & Referral Agency. I love bringing Spanish and English together for fellow teachers - particularly the ones who are English-speaking and know that learning Spanish as a 2nd language is a necessity in our United States! Yet they struggle with how to fit this bilingual fun into their daily routine - and that’s why they bring me, Boca Beth, in! See my selection of keynotes and trainingsfor your next conference!
This summer - our mascot and language amigo BOCA - traveled to many places! Be one of the first three to guess correctly what city and what famous landmark he is on top of looking out from to win one of our Boca Beth t-shirts (with fun bilingual words on it!), one of our 44-page bilingual coloring/activity booksAND a BOCA puppet!
Remember - correct city AND correct famous landmark in this city from which BOCA is looking down from!
Happy Guessing! Post your answers below -first three to guess correctly win the BOCA puppet, the bilingual t-shirt from Boca Beth and our Spanish and English coloring/activity book! ¡Buena suerte!Good luck!
This 3 minute and 23 second energizing bilingual song from our Boca Beth line up introduces 20 body parts in Spanish and English!
Early childhood educators love it! Parents delight as their children learn and laugh! Teachers around the world use this daily for exercise fun! And children are the real winners as they learn a second language, beat children’s obesity AND have fun! Enjoy!
Straight from the Scollon Productionfactory (that is who made our mascot character BOCA) all the way to Lawrence, Mass. this week, BOCA brings Spanish and English together for young children worldwide with music and movement fun! I will be having fun with a Keynote titled Energize Your Enthusiasm! as I jump start the school year off for the Head Start Group in this community!
Watch BOCA in action during this home made video shown below with my 17-year-old wearing the costume but not wearing BOCA’s yellow calcetines, medias/socks. (I know - two words in Spanish for the same word in English. It happens a lot you know, and either one is fine!) Matt’s ankles are showing which is why this clip will never make it to one of our marketed DVDs! Enjoy the YouTube fun!
I have absolutely come to love this part of being Boca Beth! Training fellow teachers on how fun and easy it can be to bring Spanish and English into their daily classroom routine with children ages birth - five! Thanks to my most recent Conference Committee called Shakin’ it up in Frederick, Maryland for sharing a day with me, Boca Beth! What a wonderful group of Head Start staff!
What child doesn’t love learning with music?!?
And what adult doesn’t recall learning something through a musical tune? It works! Raising bilingual children is as easy as uno-dos-tres / one-two-three if you approach it the fun way with our Boca Beth Program and Products.
Check out my training schedule, (click the link to the left) and see if there is a day we could fit in a training in your community PLUS an interactive family concert complete with BOCA our mascot character!
My head is spinning! I flew in late last night from training Head Start staff in Albany, Georgia (what a fun group and eager to learn new ideas of how to bring Spanish into their daily routine even though they speak only English themselves - except for my two new amigas Mariela and Margarita!).
Check out how much fun we had singing and dancing and playing as we learned yesterday that you do NOT have to be a native speaker of a language to help young children learn that new language! This bilingual stuff really works when done correctly and each day!
Happy Educating! ¡Sea feliz educando!
Boca Beth
P.S. ( I head over to the One Goal Summer Conference to train today, tomorrow and Friday - join me!!!!)
Hard to believe I start my next round of keynote speaking and feature training in the field of early childhood development and language learning skills. I really love this part of my journey as an entrepreneur - visiting other parts of our country and sharing my insight and expertise on how bilingual music and movement fun can teach Spanish to English-speaking kids and English to Spanish-speaking kids.
Catch me training in Georgia and Florida next week, Keynoting in Maryland, Massachusetts and Iowa August and September, then Arkansas and Virginia (we are hoping) in October! I try not to travel too much since we are really focusing on bringing the Boca Beth Backpack to market this fall in a BIG / GRANDE way, but my passion for sharing my message of ‘you do not have to be a native speaker of a language in order to give the gift of that new language to young children’ takes control, and off I go!
I will leave you with a very short version of me in action in Nebraska earlier this year with early childhood professionals singing our Boca Beth song Movin’ & Groovin’ off our physical fitness CD found right here!
