Hola Beth,

I have just discovered your website, blog, and video lessons on YouTube--what an inspiration you are! I am an American teaching French to my nephew, my son, and other young children via private tutoring. Like you, I make up songs in the target language to go along with familiar melodies and explore ways to make learning French fun and painless. Your creative and detailed lesson plans with activities are very helpful--they provide lots of repeated exposure to the target language and appeal to different learning styles.

I'd be curious to hear about how you decide what proportion of English and Spanish to use in your materials--perhaps in a future blog post you could address immersion vs. translation? I've had more luck doing full immersion (both with kids and with college students).

Please drop by and visit my blog, "Bringing up Baby Bilingual," at babybilingual.blogspot.com. Would you possibly consider letting me profile your bilingual family? It involves simply typing answers to questions about how and why your family uses English and Spanish. (You can click on previous profiles in the sidebar to see what other families have said.)

And other fans and readers of Boca Beth, that invitation goes to y'all too! Email me at babybilingual (at) gmail (dot) com if you're interested in participating in a profile that I would publish on my blog.

Muchas gracias,
Sarah

I love the fact that the song has motions you can do and it introduces spanish while still using the english that the child is familiar with. I think it would be fun to do the seasons or the weather.

I work with newborns through the age of 10 teaching spanish and french to the children at my church during sunday school. I try incorporating it into the lesson that we are learning for the day as well as using it when giving instructions and asking questions. The biggest challenge I have is creating a lesson plan that works well for all the different levels of understanding that I am working with because the children differ so much in age. I would love to have some music to add to the lesson to make it more interesting and fun. I remember when I was first learning spanish, that music always helped me, and it was a great way to get away from the routine of book work and reading.

I like the way Boca Beth alternates Spanish and English, instead of doing "chunks" at a time. I watched the counting video.
I think colors would be a fun lesson, or teach some sort of Spanish nursery rhyme with actions, like a our "Where is Thumbkin", but something unique to Spanish culture.
I Love stuff like that! I would be proud to share this with my 2 boys!
Good work!
